Scotty Manufacturing is seeking a reliable hands-on Quality Control Assistant for a full-time, Monday to Friday day shift position in our Moulding Division. The incumbent for this position should be comfortable with quality control functions and related administrative skills. The following skills are required including, but not limited to:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage policies, procedures and material control systems.
- Mentor, develop and review personnel to meet functional objectives.
- Negotiate and administer supplier contracts and check in regularly with product suppliers.
- Analyze and manage appropriate reports including blanket P.O. reports, supplier performance reports, MRP exception reports and open P.O. reports to ensure on-time material availability and proper inventory levels.
- Continual improvement activities within Material and Production Control areas.
- Maintain and monitor MRP parameters.
- Using scale and calipers to record weights and part counts and measure parts, as well as, checking parts for defects and proper fit, correcting problems as needed.
- Retrieve parts hourly at machines running during shift and check parts throughout the day at the machines.
Administration
- Accurately process daily data entry and produce balanced morning reports ensuring any errors found are corrected.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and ensure incoming orders are accurate
- Check BOM and change if necessary.
- Print labels and get necessary hardware brought to machines as required.
- Scan finished skids and transfer to proper departments.
- Prepare orders for shipping, labeling, pick tickets.
- Follow production manager’s instructions, as directed.
- Keep library organized when returning trays.
Key Experience
- High levels of organization and accuracy required.
- Should have the ability to generate reports, investigate and resolve problems using problem solving tools and methodologies.
- Must be able to work under pressure conditions in an environment of changing priorities.
- Excellent understanding and working experience with MRP/ERP systems
- Computers skills (word, excel, power point)
- Excellent communication skills, (written, and verbal)
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment would be an asset.
Safety
Employee must maintain a clean, uncluttered and safe work environment observing and practicing high standards of health and safety. This includes wearing appropriate attire, such as protective safety glasses, appropriate closed-toed shoes and any other safety required gear where applicable.
Education
Relevant trade or diploma program in materials management would be a strong asset
Combined education and experience will also be considered.
